Personalisation enables people who use support services to have more choice and control over their lives. For services who offer health and social care services the emphasis is on person centred support.
From the outset the DRC has been run by and for people with physical and/or sensory disabilities and as such has always recognised people are individuals and it has offered the support and assistance to aid them to live a purposeful life to the full.
The DRC welcomes the concept of personalisation as it fits with our ethos and the Centre regards it as an exciting opportunity to:
Increase service user choice by offering a service is ready to create new services or change the way in which services are offered in response to individual’s needs and choices.
Offer support people who have opted for more control of their own funding.
The DRC will:
Ensure each person is supported in the way that person wants and that encourages them to take increasing control of their life.
Ensure that staff and volunteers receive training and information to enable them to support and promote personalisation with service users, their families and carers.
Work with families, carers and professionals to develop services that can be tailored to individual needs.
Create new services commissioned by individuals and their families and carers.
Personalisation represents a new way of working and the DRC is ready to meet the challenges and develop as an organisation for its present and future service users.
